As shown in Figure 1, the end slot cutter is used to measure the P1 point. It is convenient to measure the P2 point. Therefore, it is better to select P1 as the tool position than P2, but if the tool position is adjusted and compensated, it is trial cut. The method determines, and the machining accuracy of the ring small circle is higher than the large circle precision, then P2 is selected as the tool position is better than P1.

3 End position of the tool during layer cutting

When the machining allowance of a certain outer surface is required to be multi-layered and cut, it is necessary to pay attention to prevent the sudden increase of the amount of back-feeding from the second knife. As shown in Fig. 2, it is reasonable to arrange the outer circle of the tool with a 90° lead angle. The reasonable arrangement should be that the cutting end of each knife is advanced by a small distance e (e=0.05). If e = 0, that is, each knife terminates at the same axial position, the main cutting edge of the turning tool may be subjected to an instantaneous heavy load impact. For example, the end position of the layered cutting to make the layer retreat arrangement is beneficial to extend the service life of the roughing tool.
