Figure 5 Timken engineers are installing four-row tapered roller bearings

2. Installation of axial thrust bearing TDIK:

1) If there is a keyway structure on the outer ring, make sure that the key must be reliably screwed to the bottom of the bearing housing, and the outer ring keyway corresponds to the key on the bearing housing, and the bottom outer ring is placed in the bearing housing;
2) Insert the bearing inner ring assembly into the bearing housing;
3) The bearing top end cap is fastened to the bearing and mounted on the bearing seat. All components including the bearing cap, the outer ring and the bearing housing must be in reliable contact and in the same direction;
4) Apply a load to the bearing cap and compress all the springs so that the end face of the bearing cap is in full contact with the outer ring;
5) Rotate the inner ring by hand to completely seat the roller;
6) Make sure that the outer ring of the bearing and the end face of the bearing cap are in full contact, check with a feeler gauge, measure the gap between the bearing cap shoulder and the bearing seat at intervals of 90°, and calculate the average value;
7) Adding the above measurement to 0.3 to 0.5 mm is the thickness of the multilayer gasket required, which is used between the bearing cap and the bearing housing;
8) Take out the outer ring and the double inner ring at the top of the bearing and pre-lubricate. The outer ring of the bottom is left in the bearing seat, and some lubricating oil is applied on the raceway by hand;
9) Put the inner and outer rings of the bearing back onto the outer ring in the bearing housing. Before installing the end cover, make sure that the O-ring is placed on the end cap shoulder;
10) Install the end cap and gasket of suitable thickness onto the bearing housing and ensure that the key corresponds to the keyway on the top outer ring. Finally tighten the end cap screws and all end cap bolts must be tightened to the specified torque.

Fourth, the maintenance of the roll neck bearing

The roll neck bearings must be removed and tested from the mill on a regular basis to maximize the service life of the roll bearings. The frequency of bearing maintenance and maintenance should be adjusted according to the operation of the mill, mainly based on experience. The usual maintenance frequency is every three months at full load, and most mills run the mill every twelve months at light intervals every six months. Roll neck bearings should be disassembled after 1000 hours of initial operation. In operation, the bearing needs to be thoroughly cleaned and the oil seal should be inspected. If necessary, the oil seal should be completely replaced. If no abnormality is found, the second inspection interval can be extended, for example, after 2000 hours of operation or longer.

After each removal of the bearing and housing assembly from the mill, the position of the bearing in the mill and the load bearing area should be recorded.
