On the morning of July 27, 2013, the second work meeting of the Secretary-General was successfully held in Beijing. This marked the first working session of the Secretary-General following the successful re-election of the Association's Council. Representatives from 25 chapters and professional committees across the industry attended the meeting, showcasing strong participation and engagement. Chen Huiren, Executive Vice President and Secretary-General, along with Wu Bolin, Yu Chengting, honorary chairman, Wang Liming, Mao Yufeng, and other key leaders of the General Meeting were present. The meeting was chaired by Wang Liming, Executive Vice President. The meeting began with a report from Li Jiyun, Deputy Director of the Industry Department, who summarized the progress of industrial upgrading research projects across various sectors. He highlighted the completion of tasks according to set requirements, evaluated the efforts of each branch, and announced the results of the assessment on the spot. Xie Wei, Deputy Director of the Exhibition Department, provided an update on the preparations for the 8th China CNC Machine Tool Exhibition (CCMT2014). He emphasized the new developments and changes expected for the event next year, and outlined key considerations for the exhibition, including organization, coordination, and execution. To enhance internal communication and strengthen the association’s organizational structure, three representative club leaders shared their experiences. Wei Erjun, Secretary-General of the Milling Machine Branch, discussed how the branch improved industry cohesion and strengthened club organization. Chen Dezhong, Secretary-General of the Special Processing Machine Branch, shared insights on the importance of innovative and practical service delivery. Wang Mingyuan, Secretary-General of the Coated Abrasives Branch, presented case studies on effective member services and industry regulation. Chen Huiren commended the achievements of the sub-committees but also pointed out areas for improvement, emphasizing the need for greater integrity and discipline in future industry work. He praised the hands-on service approaches of the top-performing clubs. Looking ahead, Chen outlined the Association’s strategic direction, focusing on "providing services, reflecting demands, and regulating behaviors" as it aims to build a modern social organization. He stressed the importance of systematic planning in business development, team building, and institutional reform to achieve a comprehensive upgrade of the Association. In the second half of the year, the Association will prioritize structural adjustments in its operations, attract more talent, and optimize its workforce. He also mentioned the recent successful transition of leadership at the Board of Directors, expressing confidence in the new council’s ability to drive positive change. Finally, Chen issued three key instructions for the sub-committees: to implement the resolutions of the 7th Council, to align with the General Meeting’s initiatives, and to improve internal communication and standardization. He urged all clubs to fulfill their assigned tasks diligently. This meeting marked a new beginning for the Association under its new leadership. The discussions not only reflected on past accomplishments but also identified challenges and expressed hope for the future. The successful gathering is expected to play a significant role in shaping the Association’s path forward.
