25 air purifier test worst effect of million
Air purifiers have become a common necessity for many households, especially in areas with high pollution levels. But do they truly deliver on their promises? According to a recent comparative test conducted by the China Consumers Association, there is a significant variation in the performance of air purifiers. The test evaluated 25 models, revealing that some purifiers were up to six times more efficient than others in removing particulate matter.
Among the tested units, a high-end model priced at 10,000 yuan showed disappointing results in both particle and formaldehyde removal. This suggests that higher price does not always equate to better performance. The test included 21 indoor air purifiers and 4 car models, covering both domestic and international brands. The National Household Electrical Appliances Quality Supervision and Inspection Center carried out the evaluation, highlighting the wide disparity in efficiency.
One of the key findings was that while 12 purifiers claimed to remove formaldehyde, their effectiveness varied greatly. The best-performing model had a formaldehyde removal rate of 1.984 m³/(h·W), while the worst only managed 0.255 m³/(h·W). This shows that consumers should be cautious when selecting a purifier based on marketing claims alone.
Another important point raised by the China Consumers Association is the need for regular filter replacement. If filters are not changed on time, the purifier may stop working effectively and even contribute to indoor pollution. This is especially true for the critical components like HEPA or activated carbon filters, which can become clogged over time.
It’s essential for users to follow manufacturer guidelines and replace filters as recommended. Ignoring this maintenance could lead to reduced air quality instead of improved conditions. As more people rely on air purifiers to protect their health, understanding how they work and how to maintain them is crucial.
