Acquired by Newport Corp's Technology and Application Center (TAC) Photovoltaic Laboratory Certification and NREL confirmed that First Solar (NASDAQ: FSLR) recently reported a world record of 20.4% conversion efficiency of cadmium telluride (CdTe) solar cells.

The previous record (19.6%) was set in 2013 by the technology partner and shareholder GE.
