On December 17th, according to foreign media VentureBeat, Google joined the Y Combinator, 500 Startups and Techstars to form a startup accelerator. The program is based on Google's Launchpad project, which aims to provide mentoring, training and support to mobile startups in India, Brazil and Indonesia to help them accelerate their product development.

The project is called Launchpad Accelerator, a startup for India, Brazil and Indonesia. Roy Glasberg, global head of Google's Launchpad project, told VentureBeat that the three countries have huge market potential. Google’s team has selected the first startups to participate in the Launchpad Accelerator project.

For this project, Google has two goals: to help startups develop products on their platforms and to succeed, and to ensure that every startup has access to the best resources in the ecosystem. Participating startups will receive $250,000 in grants, including $50,000 in seed money. They will also have access to Google products, office space in their country, two-week training in Mountain View, Calif., and six months of mentoring.

For guidance support, it is worth mentioning that Google will bring industry experts to those startups - they are not necessarily Google's own employees.

The Launchpad Accelerator will be launched on January 18 and will have up to 24 startups heading to Google's headquarters.

What are the specific processes of the project? The startup will fly to Mountain View to participate in a two-week training camp. There, they will see mentors from inside and outside of Google. Grassberg called this a “stressful environment” and the project team will help these startups plan for the next five and a half months. Startups will need to perform a range of personalized tasks to improve their marketing strategy, user experience design, and other aspects of their services.

After returning home, they will receive guidance from office locations, mentors from Google's local and global networks, and access to the Google Developer Platform.

So which companies are eligible to participate in the Launchpad Accelerator? On the one hand, most of their users must be domestic users, and their products should be very attractive. They also need to have a lot of influence in the local market. Launchpad Accelerator has no restrictions on the industry they are in.

So what is the difference between this project and other startup projects like Google for Entrepreneurs, Microsoft BizSpark and Amazon Launchpad? Grassberg explained that Google is more focused on products under development. "Our vision is a third-party product, the application that developers are working on. Other companies will get involved and adopt specific products, and Google will not do this. We will work with startups."

He added that some of the entrepreneurial accelerators are very local, emphasizing the support of startups from nearby areas. The goal of Launchpad Accelerator is to give startups the best, geographically unrestricted resources.

What benefits does it help Google to bring to startups? On the one hand, this will help to continue to grow its ecosystem. The project will also help build user trust in Google’s mobile products. Glassberg said that Google will also get some feedback on its products from participating startups and get more insights on how to improve its products in the future.
