At the site, a family of three stood out—parents with their young child searching for work. Ms. Liu, the mother, shared that she and her husband have been working in Dongguan for over a decade. Her husband works in transportation, and she hopes to find a job closer to home so that her daughter can attend school more easily. She mentioned that she would like her husband to earn around 4,000 yuan per month, which would allow her to take on some manual work at home while caring for their child. Huang Jing explained that furniture companies usually target middle-aged, experienced workers who are more stable. These individuals often don’t return to work immediately after the Spring Festival, preferring to wait until after the Lantern Festival.
