Smart watches can also be made by 3D printing

A few days ago, a man named Jonathan Cook embarked on an ambitious journey from scratch and created OSWatch, a smartwatch built entirely with a 3D printer, earning him the MakerMedia Arduino Award. “When I started this project, I had a clear vision,” Jonathan explained. His goal was to develop a fully Arduino-compatible smartwatch that was simple in design but future-proof, with enough storage space for software expansion. He also aimed for at least a full day of battery life. This wasn’t an easy task. It took Jonathan nine months of hard work to bring OSWatch to life. Every component—dial, back, frame, connector port, and strap—was 3D-printed by him using a modified Printrbot Simple 3D printer. The watch’s core consists of three key modules: a Microduino-Core+, a Bluegiga BLE112 chip, and a voltage regulator. Beyond just telling time, OSWatch offers features like email alerts, Facebook notifications, and Twitter updates. Jonathan hopes that other developers will continue to expand its capabilities. “I see it as the first open-source Pebble,” he told Make magazine. Pebble, known for its compatibility with both iOS and Android, allowed users to receive iMessage notifications directly on their wrists. Jonathan has made all the details of OSWatch available online at oswatch.org. He shared the complete source files, DIY instructions, STL files, and Arduino/Xcode code—all free to download. This open-source approach encourages innovation and collaboration within the maker community. With its blend of affordability, customization, and openness, OSWatch is more than just a smartwatch—it's a platform for creativity and learning.

Macor Ceramic Tube

Bio Glass Ceramic Tubes are a notable choice in the medical and technical fields because of their unique ability to incorporate beneficial minerals into their structures. By adding calcium oxide (CaO) and phosphorus pentoxide (P2O5) to these ceramics, they form hydroxyapatite crystals when heated, which are ideal for bonding with human tissue.

Clinical trials, some lasting six years, have shown promising outcomes, displaying the materials' potential for long-term applications. Whether for medical implants or other advanced uses, Macor ceramic tubes stand out as a high-performance option.
