**Abstract**
In 2012, the European debt crisis continued to worsen, and global economic growth slowed significantly. Domestically, initiatives were launched to regulate the real estate market and address risks associated with investment and financing platforms, which put greater downward pressure on economic growth. Under the leadership of the Party Central Committee and the State Council, a steady and progressive approach was adopted, prioritizing stability and growth. This strategy gradually stabilized the economy, and the domestic economic operation was in the process of finding a new balance. Significant progress was made in economic restructuring. Despite slower economic growth, the employment situation remained generally stable. The transfer of industrial gradients accelerated, new product development cycles shortened, and quality improved. The trend of replacing labor with machines became increasingly evident, with both capital composition and labor productivity improving simultaneously.
The Superhard Materials Branch closely followed the national situation, focusing on the work priorities of the General Conference and the branch’s annual plan. Various activities were organized, including the 2012 China Superhard Materials Industry Technology Development Forum and other industry conferences, totaling 52 groups. The branch participated in two international exhibitions, hosted one exhibition (CCMT2012), and took part in three stone and ceramic exhibitions. Training sessions and examinations were held three times, and 25 magazines and information books were published, containing 3.56 million words. Four new members were added, enhancing the branch’s role as a bridge and link between stakeholders while strengthening its internal construction.
The summary report is as follows:
**1. Focus on Key Tasks and Complete Assigned Objectives**
1.1 Timely Communication of the General Meeting's Spirit and Implementation of Guidelines
The first meeting of the Secretary-General was held in Beijing on March 26, 2012. It emphasized promoting technological innovation in the industry, centered around “bigger and stronger†goals, and highlighted innovation as the main principle. The association worked to build an industry development platform, provide services for the whole industry, and maintain a pragmatic and down-to-earth approach.
Our club utilized the four-time executive directors’ expansion meetings held in Zhoushan, Zhejiang, from April 10 to 11, 2012, along with the association’s website, to publicize the spirit of the general meeting effectively.
1.2 Actively Participate in CCMT2012 and Prepare for CIMT2013
Exhibitions are vital for showcasing industry technology, promoting product sales, and supporting enterprises. They also serve as a key revenue source for the General Conference. Our club actively participated in CCMT2012, with 14 exhibitors occupying 135 square meters, achieving record numbers and areas. For CIMT2013, 28 applications were received, but due to space limitations, only 22 exhibitors were selected, covering 264 square meters.
1.3 Encourage Enterprises to Apply for the "Top Ten Enterprises" Title
Since the establishment of the “Top Ten Enterprises†appraisal, our club has been actively involved. Member companies consistently appear on the list, promoting brand awareness and product quality. In 2011, four of our member units won the title, including “Top Ten Enterprises for Brand Creation Activities.â€
1.4 Strengthen Learning and Improve Service Capabilities
Building a strong team is essential. Our staff focused on studying national policies, industry expertise, and new technologies in superhard materials. Through various activities and publications, their organizational, editorial, and design skills were enhanced, increasing the club’s influence and cohesion.
1.5 Adjust Membership Structure Based on Industry Trends
With rapid technological advancements and shifting markets, some companies rose while others declined. Our club continuously adjusted membership to ensure vitality. In 2012, four new members were added, including Luoyang Meike Diamond Co., Ltd., Hongyuan Superhard Materials (Henan) Co., Ltd., Xi’an Qinling Diamond Wheel Co., Ltd., and Zhengzhou Jintai Metal Materials Co., Ltd.
**2. Conduct Diverse Club Activities According to Industry Characteristics**
2.1 Organize Executive Director Meetings and High-Level Forums
On April 10–11, 2012, the Superhard Materials Branch held the 4th Executive Directors’ Expansion Meeting and an industry high-level forum in Zhoushan, Zhejiang. 2.3 Prepare for the "China's Superhard Materials Industry for 50 Years" Project
To celebrate the 50th anniversary of synthetic diamonds, the branch planned to publish a history of the industry, divided into two parts: “China's Superhard Materials Industry for 50 Years†and “Recalling the Past and the Years.†A writing committee was formed, and over 50 leaders and experts gathered in Zhengzhou to finalize the plans.
2.4 Host the 2012 China Superhard Materials Technology Development Forum
The forum, held in Yichang from October 23–26, attracted over 260 participants from more than 100 companies. It featured 20 papers and discussions on industry challenges and opportunities. The event was well-received, with delegates praising its academic atmosphere and practical insights.

2.7 Conduct Professional Skills Appraisals
The branch completed revisions to the National Occupational Classification and conducted skill appraisals for diamond synthesizers and tool manufacturers. Over 100 employees passed the assessments, demonstrating improved standards and capabilities.
**3. Enhance Statistical Work and Publish Industry Publications**
The club produced 24 publications, including journals, yearbooks, and technical proceedings, totaling 3.36 million words. These resources provided valuable technical, economic, and trade information to the industry.
**4. Strengthen the Branch Website and Improve Information Services**
The “China Superhard Materials Network†served as a key platform for industry communication. The website saw significant improvements in traffic, page views, and user engagement, reflecting its growing influence.
**5. Conclusion**
In 2012, under the leadership of the General Conference, the branch successfully completed its tasks and contributed to the industry’s sustainable development. While achievements were made, there is still room for improvement in terms of resources and outreach. We welcome feedback from members and look forward to further progress in the coming years.
