Aluminum alloy templates have long been familiar to the global construction industry. Since the 1990s, they have been widely used in countries such as the United States, Canada, Japan, South Korea, Dubai, Malaysia, and Singapore, delivering significant economic and social benefits. Recently, their application has also been growing rapidly in coastal areas of southern China. As the fourth generation of building templates, aluminum alloy templates have gradually replaced traditional wood, steel, and plastic templates due to their numerous advantages. They are lightweight, easy to assemble and disassemble, highly rigid, with large panel surfaces, fewer joints, good stability, and high precision. The concrete produced using these templates is smooth and clean, and the templates can be reused hundreds of times, offering a long service life and excellent economic value. Their recyclability, quick installation, and low maintenance costs make them an attractive choice for the construction industry. Compared to traditional formwork systems like plywood or steel, aluminum templates offer higher efficiency, lower labor costs, and less environmental impact, aligning better with the goals of green construction and energy conservation. This makes them a promising solution for the future of the formwork industry. Li Weiping, Deputy General Manager of Guangdong Weiye Aluminum, shared her insights on the market. She noted that while the initial investment in aluminum templates was once a barrier, their multiple reuse significantly reduces the average cost. These templates can typically be reused over 100 times, sometimes even up to 300 times. Additionally, their ease of recycling and low installation costs further enhance their appeal. Many construction companies now prefer aluminum templates due to their cost-effectiveness and long-term benefits. To reduce the upfront investment, some companies are exploring leasing models. In southern China, many aluminum template manufacturers are entering the leasing business, either directly or through third parties. This approach helps lower initial costs and encourages more projects to adopt aluminum templates. With urbanization and the push for green buildings, the demand for aluminum formworks is expected to grow. As part of the "aluminum replacing steel" and "aluminum replacing wood" trend, aluminum templates are becoming a key player in the construction industry. Government initiatives to promote green building materials further support this shift. Recently, major real estate developers like Vanke have started adopting aluminum alloy templates nationwide, planning to replace all traditional templates within two to three years. This indicates a strong market trend and increasing acceptance of aluminum templates. Despite the promising outlook, experts caution against overcapacity and resource waste. Li Weiping urged industry players to remain cautious and avoid blind following of trends. She also emphasized the importance of technical quality, as improper manufacturing can lead to issues like gaps or coating problems, which may harm the market. Overall, the growth of the aluminum template market is beneficial for both the aluminum industry and the construction sector. With current low aluminum prices, the adoption of aluminum templates is likely to increase, boosting overall consumption and contributing to sustainable development.
