The International Energy Agency's (IEA) PVPS project team has released its latest Global PV Development Report, covering the period from 1992 to 2013. The report highlights that after a two-year phase of market consolidation and industrial restructuring, the global solar sector finally experienced significant growth in 2013. This marks a turning point for the photovoltaic industry, as it begins to stabilize and expand across multiple regions. According to the report, in 2014, the total installed capacity of photovoltaic systems in 24 major solar energy markets reached 36.9 GW. This brings the cumulative installations under the IEA PVPS program to 123.2 GW. Additionally, there are an extra 10.8 GW of installations from non-IEA member countries, which are not included in the official figures. In 2013, the Pacific Rim region, particularly Western Asia, accounted for 59% of the global solar installations—this is the same percentage that Europe held in 2012. However, due to the expansion of the global market and the rise of new solar regions, Europe’s share dropped to 28%. Meanwhile, the Americas saw their first-ever installation milestone of over 5 GW in 2013. China continues to lead in PV development, with a remarkable 11.3 GW of grid-connected solar capacity added in 2013. Japan followed closely with 6.9 GW, while the United States ranked third with 4.75 GW. Germany, the European leader, installed 3.3 GW that year. Photovoltaics have become a critical source of electricity in many nations. The report notes that 15 countries now generate at least 1% of their annual electricity demand through solar power. Italy leads this group, with 7.8% of its electricity coming from photovoltaics. In Europe, the average stands at 3%, while Australia, Japan, and Israel also exceed the 1% threshold. Only China and the U.S., the world’s largest electricity consumers, have not yet reached this level, but their growing PV installations suggest they may soon. Beyond the IEA members, several non-member countries contributed more than 10.8 GW of solar installations, especially in Europe. Italy alone reached 2.2 GW of installed capacity. The IEA PVPS team estimates a minimum of 134 GW of global PV installations. This figure is conservative, as some countries did not provide clear data, and off-grid systems were excluded. However, the report also provides an estimated upper range of 200 GW, indicating the rapid pace of solar expansion worldwide. The PVPS program includes 24 member countries such as China, the U.S., Australia, and Germany, along with institutional members like the European Commission, the European Photovoltaic Industry Alliance, and the Solar Power Association. Together, they play a crucial role in monitoring and promoting global solar energy development.

Explosion Proof Solenoid Valve Coil

An Explosion Proof Solenoid Valve must have a ex proof solenoid coil or enclosure that is able to contain any explosion originating from within the coil or housing and prevent any internal spark from igniting any combustible gas, vapors or particulates in the surrounding environment that could cause a much larger explosion.
